With everyone talking about the Henry incident which closely followed the N'Gog penalty incident (regardless of the fact i'm a Birmingham supporter) then i believe everybody is missing the point.

We do not need a hundred cameras or 10 officials dotted around the pitch all we need to do is put the emphasise on the guilty player. It is so easy to blame the referee yet the Swedish official in charge of the Ireland v France game had a fantastic game and although he was unsighted and missed the incident the usual nonsense of changing our game with technology etc raises its ugly and annoying head. The players in question should be banned simple as that. If N'gog or Henry were not allowed to participate in 5 or 6 games then it would certainly deter anyone being so dishonest again.

It is a definate fact that our youngsters copy what they see and in the current climate they are seeing people being what is basically dishonest and being told thats ok its the refs fault he didnt see it. If technology comes in then the game we all watch on Sunday mornings  with our kids will be a different game to what the proffesionals are playing and that for a start kills what makes the game so appealing and popular the pure simplicity. The refs decision should be final full stop end of story. Defenders make mistakes, managers make mistakes, goalkeepers make mistakes and low and behold now and again refs make mistakes, human error simple as that. They say too much money depends on it so every time an own goal is scored or a bad pass leads to a goal what should we do then - have technology to help defending??

Leave the game alone, start putting responsibility on the players and stop over analyzing decisions after they are gone. Even after the ref refused to give Anelka a penalty and the replay proved the ref was correct it was still a post game talking point...why??

The buck starts and stops with the players full stop if they dont give a good example then what chance have the youngsters got! The press and especially SKY TV who obviously just need to fill up time after a game are the ones who heap the pressure on everyone by looking at things over and over again...they create the pressure and they also help with this putting the emphasise on the refs.

Without being too dramatic but the game will be killed off with interference and rule changing. Its doens need to progress as the old saying goes "why mend something that isnt broekn"

i would beg to differ with you on a few points, the introduction of cameras, if you look at rugby, they have cameras etc for vid replay, this takes the pressure off the ref and positivly influences the game, I think it would be great if we had it in football, you wouldnt get the bombarding of the ref that some top managers let and encourage their players to do.....( stand up the whole of the man U team)........ this is whats destroying the game coaches and managers letting and encouraging the cheating. I often tell my players when they decide to argue when im reffing, that if they argue with my decision then they will get a punishment, i tell them to stop moaning and get on with the game.Us is where they learn from, not professionals. the buck starts with US we are their builders of skill and knowledege, we are their influence.who teaches them discipline who teaches them how to behave, who teaches them sportsmanship? we do. If we copy the professionals by letting them behave like the pros do, then WE are to blame, we have to show them that the pros get things wrong, whats right and wrong with what the pros are doing, its all down to us to teach, and if we dont show them the correct way to play and behave, then its us that is to blame.

i know this isnt realy about henrys cheating but i will carry on any way i realy believe that he knew it was hand ball and exspected the ref to blow and did it again and when the ref missed it he couldnt believe hes luck and lets put it in pespective hes team at that moment could of not be going to the biggest football competion on the planet what we all dreamed of playing when we was boys running around muddy pitches on a freezing cold sunday morning or after school heads and volleys with our mates i dont think cheating is right at all but have a think if you was in hes shoes yes there were alot of  broken irish hearts but it could of been french hearts and i think people are realy taking it to far i realy hope he will not be just rememberd for that mistake as he is one of the best players this country certanly has ever seen.going to the point of back up for refs with cameras you are so right simon i watched the rugby today and football needs to realy take some of ther methods they realy work but the another problem is we dont have the respect for refs as they do with rugby but i do think our refs miss far much more that they do in rugby i dont know if it is the speed of the game or what but something somewere does need to be done

so do I steadman, I really think that its about time fifa sorted this out, i do believe that its down to us coaches to teach best practice and that we are the influence of young players not the stars, if we teach them the right way then we have the right steps for the pros of tomorow its bad management and bad coaching that lets these pros cheat, winning is important but not at all costs, keeping sound mind and judgement, and producing good sportsmanship, far outweighs winning at all costs.

Well as a regular at Worcester Warriors i do watch a lot of Rugby and comparing anything that happens with rugby to football is completely missing the point. Rugby has many more stoppages than football and the whole flow of the two games is completely different. In the same way someone can just run onto the pitch in rugby to give treatment etc mid game is an example of the difference. The only aspect we need from rugby is the discipline and respect shown to the officials.

Anyone who watched Football Focus on Saturday and heard JOHN MOTSONS views which were superb. Technology has no place in our game. It may start with goal line technology but eventually it will be for everything and it will affect the game.

Mark my words be careful what you wish for because once it does change there wont be any going back and again to repeat my main point unless we are playing the game at grass roots level which is exactly the same as the top level then we are killing the game.

Sky and newspapers only over - analyze to fill time and pages were not supposed to take it literally and try and change the entire game just because they highlight something a ref has missed.

I enjoy running my own side at under 13 level more than any overhyped Premier League nonsense as it truly is the last bit of "real football" left!

very good point swift i think the game could be changed for the worse if not done properly, you have to look at the nonsence in the uefa cup for that but there must be something done as mistakes are becoming abit to regular i think they have to at least aproach the way refs are trained, its a very worrying state of affairs but we must hope that the fa,fifa or uefa come to some sence or someone in the back ground who actually understands football gets a promotion but i cant see the old boys club changing anytime soon

did u guys know that the 10 yard rule that was introduced for arguing with the ref still exists??? this is something i found out when doing my lev 1 fa coaching badge, but the refs are told not to use it as it upsets clubs.................... get the rfs using it again, and also ban or fine players that deliberatly cheat, for bringing the game into disrepute and if that has caused a win by a narrow margin then the game is null and voind and has to be replayed
