I did 3-3-1 with my girls and it worked pretty well - keeps a strong defensive front and forced attackers wide -- 3 in the middle really helped us work on crossed balls.  You have to have a good striker to to be ready up top who can hold the ball or make a fast break -- I am still undecided -- I like the strength of 3-3-1 but often felt we could have had a bit more pressure on attack with 2 fwds.  2-3-2 I like but you got to have 2 beasts for the back two or they will get over-run against a strong attacking team.  3 in the back really allowed us good recovery and response against attacks on our goal and really forced teams to take poor angle shots or narrow openings which went straight to our keeper.
