Hi

I would like to play a couple of games on tour next summer

I am looking for prehaps an under 10's tounament to enter my team somewhereabout

100 miles ish from Norwichm prehaps  Kent/ Nottingham bieng the limit

any suggestions?

Regards

Tony

I think the best player should get the reward whoever he is,if it is your son then give it to him and be proud, if any parents disagree with the decision then they need to give a reason why!
Normally it would be a parent who would not dream of helping at traning or at a match but likes to hav a good moan about anything

In a game it is to easy to take my son of just becase that is the easy decision, I made that mistake a few times when I started as an u8's manager, I now play the strongest team and give other players a try if i get a chance

Am I right or wrong?

In response to the last paragraph of the previous post -

I think up to the age of 12 or 13 then it should be more equal into who gets an opportunity but i strongly believe that the competetive side and the desire to win needs to be instilled and once they reach there early teens then trying to achieve individually and as a team is vital to help progress the players to not only be good with technique and an understanding of the game but a desire to win and be successful.

If you listen to an interview with any top player they always talk about being a winner that was installed into them when young and with the very top players it also comes naturally to an extent. Too much empahasise and pressure is now put on coaches of youngsters to give everyone a chance even if it does slow the progress of the rest down. Its not only proffessional academies who have real talent and teams in standard sunday football have every right to be as good as they can be and if that means some players needing to find alternative clubs then i dont see that as a problem. As long as there are other clubs for them that is....!

We are in danger of watering the game down and losing the passion that draws us all to it with the modern "just for fun and everyones enjoyment" attitude - i know views like this are not to everybodies liking but with our game being so analysed at the moment we should be concentrating on producing the best and that is by realising talent early and giving them as many opportunities as possible - by 13 i think it is relatively clear if the player has a real future in the game although i accept there are late developers and exceptions to the rule!

I am strongly against people not missing out but i believe if we focus on the players with ability then the lesser players if part of well run clubs with an attitude more towards enjoyment than success then they dont need to miss out, but other clubs, managers/coaches should not be too harshly judged by giving priority to their strongest side if thats what they feel is best for their chosen players and club!
