Hi all,
Please forgive me, I am new on the forum and I just know that this will have been covered before. I haven't been able to find it by searching.
I am coaching a mixed bag of under 13's, some of which haven't played 11 a side before. I am looking for small sided games that will help reinforce the benefits of holding a shape, keeping a structure, whatever that may be.
I am thinking of playing attackers against a line of either 3 or 4 defenders, varying the number of attackers from simple (2v 4) to overload (4attackers v 3 defenders). The focus being that the defenders must hold their shape to be successful; by starting this in a smaller area it will be hard for the defensive line to lose it's shape. By then taking this game to the big pitch I hope that the kids will see the benefits of holding that shape.
Any other ideas would be welcomed.
Cheers, Dalles.
