| In the last two games we conceded goals where the defenders lost an attacker in the box and he was then left alone to receive the pass and score. I was just wondering how one can effectively train them to pick up an attacker and make sure he is marked, as well as another attacker joining the box late? I think my defenders concentrate too much on zonal defending and forget to mark every man in the box. Is it also the goalkeepers job to help defenders pick up a striker behind their back?

| at practice set up two teams. pair up each player on team 1 with a player on team 2. play a normal game with the rule that you can only tackle or be tackled by your partner on the opposite team. this makes each player look for who they are supposed to be marking and track them appropriately.
