Hello there,

Anyone got any decent information or websites to go to for 9v9 tactic ideas and information? Can't really find anything detailed?

I currently play two different formations

3-2-3 & 3-4-1

I would say that 3-2-3 is more attack minded and harder work for the midfield, and the 3-4-1 is more defensive, however it's a change from 3-2-3 during play...one way or the other...

Just wondered if there were any other ideas floating around?

Steve

depends on what you are working on.  if you want to work your center backs (if you play a flat back four) then play a 2-4-2.  if you want to work on your center mids, play a 3-2-3.  there's so many ways to adjust the formation to work on what you feel needs work.  sorry if that doesn't help much.

I agree, I cannot find any resources for 9x9 on the web, it really is a suck it and see option!

My tuppence worth:

When we play league games we play a 3-4-1 formation. The wingers are the main attacking feed with our center left taking the defensive midfield role when we have the ball.

When we play cup games we use a 3-1-3-1 formation. This looks a bit odd to some but it is very effective. The defenders are not very widely spread but they are covered by a sweeper which allows the rest of the defence watch for threats from runners coming from deep. We pull 2 of our midfielders wide with the striker when we have the ball. this opens up the pitch for a run from our opposite midfielder and sweeper to attack the space. This took a while to catch on to be honest but once they saw the results after some training sessions they took to it very well.

We are in the cup final next month so it seems to be working...we might expand it to all our games!

It really is horses for courses though, depends on your players strenghts.

He shoots, He scores!!
