Have you heard of Pirates Treasure, Ice Monster, Sharks and Minnows? They are all games in a confined area. Start the practice by telling them to always come with their ball and dribble in the midfield circle. Show them different touches. At 6 if you start the same way every practice, they feel confident about what they are doing. Tell them to use the outside, now pull backs, inside and so forth. Progression is key. Now go to the game...everone dribbles to open space but tries to knock someone's ball out of the circle. At an older age you would tell them to stay out... at this age have them come back in the circle and you time them about 1:30. Always keep them busy. Ice Monster is one person is the Ice Monster and they knock away their teamates ball, freezing the player. To unfreeze a player another player kicks their ball between the frozen ones legs. Sharks and minnows is also similar but the kids without balls become the sharks till one person left. In this game they move across a squared off area dribbling to the other side as quickly as possible. Change the name of the games to a 6 year olds interest if it will help.

Mostly have as many progressive drills and game as possible preferably with a general theme (ie throw-ins, shots on goal, passing, dribbling). They get bored quick and sometimes don't grasp. With every drill have a game. Other wise an hour is a very long practice! ALWAYS end with a scrimage. There is lots of stuff available on the net especially for 6's.

new soccer coach need help

I need help making a schedule of training for the soccer team that i am coaching. The team is made out of 6-year old kids. The practice time i have is 1 hour and one half.
