To Introduce myself my name is Richard Seedhouse and I am a UEFA B coach and FA Tutor.  I am the Football Development Officer at an FA Charter Standard Development Junior Football Club and I also coach for the County FA and at an FA centre of Excellence.

The reason for my post is Coach Education and Development.

In my role I have seen many ex-players, keen parents, JFO's (Junior Football Organisers) and Young Sports Leaders complete their Level 1 coaching award.  They all come back fired up, keen to coach and all want to know about the level 2 award.  What are the differences how can they improve and get to the standard required?  I wanted to maintain this enthusiasm and give all coaches the best chance of passing.  I also want to improve our coaches working within the crucial 7 to 11 years age band.  To this end I started writing a book.

www.forsport.co.uk have reviewed the book and were so impressed they have listed it on their pro-coaching equipment website.  I have also had very favorable feedback from County FA Development Officers.  I now only want to spread the word that at last there is a book for grassroots coaches that want to improve their coaching.  This book is NOT just setting up millions of drills.  Coaching the Coach is written by a grassroots coach who has been asked the questions by Level 1 coaches.  Coaching the Coach is written in a completely unique question and answer style which is easy to read and engages with the reader provoking and inspiring them to think.  It asks who they are coaching, what drill can be used, how and why.  It looks at what actually needs to be coached and explains the different coaching styles.  It is a book that gently, through the chapters, guides our cajoled parents, sports leaders or new level 1 coaches.  Taking them from supervisor of players and drills on their journey to level 2 coach and educator / coach of players.  It even helps onward toward the level 3 award.  Coaching the Coach is the only practical guide, I know of, which shows how to use drills as the tool to coach players.

I offer this to you all and hope it helps at least one of you or your club coaches to better coach their players.

Thanks for your time and I hope someone can maybe review the book on this forum to help other coaches decide on the worth of this new coaching resource.  The book is also available from www.amazon.co.uk

Thanks Richard Seedhouse, Author: Coaching the Coach: A complete guide how to coach soccer skills through drills.
