Step up soccer drill for crossing in match situations
Follow on from coaching basic crossing technique drills and put your players' skills into a match-practice situation.
Key soccer coaching tip: move the ball first
The technique you need to teach your players for long kicking starts with them pushing the ball to the side, slightly in front of the body. In soccer training drills put the non-kicking foot next to the ball and kick through the centre of the ball.

Once your players have perfected their crossing technique, you can begin to get them into match-practice situations and increase the difficulty of the soccer training drill.
- Player A moves the ball to the side and kicks long to player B.
- B controls and passes to C.
- C pushes the ball forward and crosses for player D to run and attack the cross, attempting to score.
- Repeat on left side starting with player E.
