Soccer drill to get attackers winning the ball back early
If you have your attacker stay forward, he has a great chance to win the ball back if he loses it in the opponents' half. Lose it in front of the goal, however, and you're gifting the opposition a scoring chance. So use this soccer training drill to get your attackers winning the ball back early.
Soccer coaching drill tips
It's best to use two attackers versus three defenders to practise these soccer skills.
There are a lot of important soccer coaching tips to look out for in this soccer drill, including, the position of your players, both in defense and attack, and their technique for jockeying and tackling for the ball.
In the diagram, your attackers win back the ball when they're in a dangerous position and take on the defenders to try and get the ball to the goal.
Soccer drill set up
Set up an area 30 metres x 15 metres with the two attackers facing three defenders. The defenders start with the ball and have to get it past the line behind the two attackers.
The attackers must try to win the ball back in the drill. Play restarts if the ball goes out of the sides.
If the attackers win the ball, they should combine to get the ball to the goal behind the defenders.
