Soccer warm-up for stretching and dribbling

This is a good way to warm young players up so they don't strain their muscles when they reach match speed.

How to play it

  • Split your players into two teams.
  • One team performs some dynamic and static stretching exercises of their choice.
  • The other team dribbles in and out of the stretching players and does various skills and nutmegs (passing the ball between their legs) on them.
  • On your whistle, the players switch roles.

The practice can be progressed to include:

  • The dribbling players making one-two passes with the stretching players.
  • The dribbling players pass to the stretching players and tell them to turn and dribble.

This warm-up is taken from The Ultimate Soccer Warm-Ups Manual which is designed to put fun back into your training and make your sessions easier to coach.
