Soccer coaching drill to look for wide or central advantage
This is a great soccer coaching game to teach your team to cope with overload situations. One team has to play the ball to the wings and potential space, while the other must work its way through the potentially crowded central area.
You should rotate your wingers so all your players have a chance to play in that position.
Set up the soccer (football) drill
In this soccer drill use a 50 yards by 30 yards playing area with eight cones, two goals with goalkeepers and 12 outfield players - two teams of six.
The team with wingers should be numbered 1-6 so you can rotate the wide players by shouting out their numbers.

How to run the soccer (football) drill
- One team has all its players on the pitch and therefore attacks through the middle. The team with four on the pitch drops back and defends deep to squash the space.
- The team with four players in the central area has two more players out wide and, therefore, can attack down either wing.
- When defending, the team with six can use high pressure against its four opponents.
