Soccer coaching tips for shooting from a cross
When your players meet a cross from the wing in the penalty area, tell them to put the ball into the corners of the goal so the goalkeeper cannot reach it.

It’s never easy to guide a cross into the corners of the net, but it’s much better that your players get an angle on the ball rather than play it straight at the goalkeeper.
An angled shot has more chance of going in the net. When your players shoot, tell them not to swing their leg and hope to connect with the ball, as the ball could go anywhere or they could miss it altogether. What they need is a good sidefoot shot into the corner.

If your attacker keeps his eye on the ball and concentrates on direction, rather than power, the number of goals he will score from crosses will soar. Tell players to treat this type of move more like a pass than a shot because young goalkeepers will not be able to reach a well placed ball hit wide of their arms.
